Before a wine can be great, it must first be true.

Our wine continues on its journey of recognition – the maxim that ‘Before a wine can be great, it must first be true’ seems, at last, to be embraced and understood by many wine reviewers as well as the general wine buying public.

We now produce three distinct ranges of wines – each with its own niche, but all made with respect and finesse – delicious wines we are proud to produce and love to drink.

Our Estate and Cru Wines

Obsessively grown and made – very much the voice of our vineyard – from estate fruit grown biodynamically. Our Cru wines are only released when vintage smiles upon us.

Reds

Genesis Syrah

Single vineyard – made from 1850 Rhone Valley massal selected cuttings with wild yeast fermentation with minimal sulphites.

La Chiave

Single vineyard – 100% Sangiovese – in the style of Brunello with a touch more fruit. A serious Sangiovese.

Un Segreto

Single vineyard – 60% Sangiovese/ 40% Syrah – in essence a blend of La Chiave and Genesis.

Barbarossa

Single vineyard – 100% Nebbiolo – it’s been a long wait, the vines have been in the ground for 13 years but the first vintage was only in 2015.

Sauvage

A vineyard blend of Syrah, Sangiovese and Viognier. Made from the barrels that don’t quite make it to Cru status. Always amazing value.

Pink

Allegro

Rosé from Syrah. A very serious dry rosé – with great texture and finesse – very much a food wine.

Whites

Ingenue

Single vineyard, complex and detailed. Scents of stone fruit – fresh apricots, white peach, jasmine, white pepper. Extremely long with a core of, assertive acidity, a rare thing indeed for Viognier.

Chenin

A wine of personality – chalky-powdery; exceptionally long and fine with aromas of green apple, some spice and just feeling of green herbs.

Aqua Santa

A complex sweet wine that sits equally well with Fois Gras, a fine cheese or a fruit salad. Viognier with a touch of botrytis Savagnin in with 100gm residual sugar – quite unusual in Australia.

Sparkling

Sparkling Genesis

Genesis sparkled, with a very low dosage – dry and structured, spicy, peppery, cedary with elegance and power. A very serious sparkling red.

Pet-Nat Allegro

Our rose – pet nat style. Old school sparkling winemaking disgorged, after a year on lees – creamy but with brisk acidity, and a lovely saline tang.

The Adams Rib Range

Made from our younger vines, sometimes augmented with fruit we buy from our neighbours. Wines that are flavoursome and textural yet approachable and affordable, but always compelling.

The Red

Nebbiolo/ Syrah. An unusual blend with classic nuances of tar and roses but finishing with black pepper – quite delicious.

The White

70% Chardonnay 30% Viognier with aromas of hazelnut, white peach and a hint of apricot, with spicy-oak notes of ginger and orange zest.

Growers Selection

Made from local fruit from growers who care – grown sustainably or organically from the very best of the local vineyards – giving us the opportunity to play with varieties we like, but don’t yet grow.

Beechworth Chardonnay

Classic Beechworth Chardonnay. Plump and generous – toasted hazelnut, peach and nougat, but still with lots of granite minerality, quite Meursault like.

Beechworth Rousanne

Beechworth is a very special place for Roussanne. Baked peach and honey blossom, with a touch of hazel and cashew nuts so typical of Roussanne. Rich, round and complex, with a texture that is both creamy and mouth filling.

Harlequin

A skin contact blend mainly of Chardonnay, Savagin, Riesling with a touch of Roussanne, and Viognier. Textural, spicy and savoury. Walks on the wild side yet still restrained – unusual and delicious.

Quasibianco - Riesling

30 days on skins makes this a most unusual Riesling.  Saline and savoury, crisp and fine with lots of citrus and green apple. A most interesting orange wine.

Savagnin

Beautifully aromatic with perfumes of ripe apple, quince, and a saltiness like sea spray wonderfully complex.
